Derwent House offers luxury self catering holiday accommodation in Matlock, Derbyshire. Having spent 2007 – 2008 renovating the Georgian House, 2008 saw Derwent House being awarded the Peak District Environmental Quality Mark. 2009 will see the continued on-going efforts to reduce the environmental impact of the business and promote sustainability of the local area. Derwent House is planning a ‘day out’ where guests can experience other local businesses that hold the Peak District Environmental Quality Mark. First time supporters, Greenbox will be getting their members to carry out community events and talks and together with their local university demonstrate good practice events and study visits to properties in Ireland. Highlighting the WTM WRTD for the first time, The Chestnuts are celebrating their Highly Commended Award recently received from the South East Tourism ExSellence Awards, Sustainable Tourism Category. People can realize through The Chestnuts that you can have luxury and sustainability. The core activity of Ullswater ‘Steamers’ is the operation of a passenger vessel service on Ullswater focusing on the aim of providing a sustainable, environmentally economic public transport system. Recently the organisation has introduced responsibility for their environmental policy with senior management, and is identifying an “Environmental Champion” within the business.  |
