Ace the Himalaya, Switzerland – AS590
Highlighting WTM WRTD for the first time this year, Ace the Himalaya offer unique outdoor adventure trips and genuine experiences in trekking,peak climbing, mountaineering, rafting, wildlife safari and cultural tours in Nepal,Tibet andBhutan.  All their holidays have been created to ensure that the local people benefit as much as possible and any negative environmental impacts on the destinations are minimized.  They will be showcasing these ‘responsible’ tours during WTM.

 

  Agri Tourism India, India
Agri Tourism India has been supporting the WTM WRTD since 2007 and will be highlighting the WTM WRTD 2010 on their “In the News” section on their website. Agri Tourism India help remote rural communities in India to take advantage of tourism through agri tourism holidays and weekend packages.  They have been changing the lives of farmers with agri tourism destination ventures, teaching them efficient utilization of existing natural resources, customer service skills, marketing and raising self esteem.

  Ashex Tourism, India
Celebrating WTM WRTD for the second year, Ashex Tourism will be planting a tree for every booking that they take. Each sapling will be planted through their guests at the destination they are visiting. Each property will be asked to look after the sapling and mark it with the guests name and date of planting. Ashex Tourism will also be encouraging others in the Indian travel fraternity to plant trees also.

  Be Outdoors, India
Be Outdoors, an environmentally responsible adventure travel company, is celebrating WTM WRTD for the first time this year.  They will be supporting the day through promotion of the WTM WRTD activities via events, forums, blogs, discussions and PR and press coverage.

  ConCERT, Cambodia
ConCERT – Connecting Communities, Environment & Responsible Tourism - is a non profit organisation based in Siem Reap, Cambodia. Their aim is to reduce poverty by bringing together Siem Reap organisations, charities and non profits active in the community, together with visitors who would like to give their support. Supporting WTM WRTD for the first time, their activities are ongoing and developing.

  Community Action Treks (CAT), Nepal
Community Action Treks principle objective is to support the education, health and community sustainability projects of their sister charity, Community Action Nepal (CAN). Their trekking activities are designed to encourage investment from their clients to the village communities in the middle Himalayas. CAT have recently embarked on a series of new activities, arranging for groups to trek in Nepal and become involved, long term, in major capital building projects. For example, a group of scout leaders trekked to Melamchigaun in the Helambu district to build a five room hostel for children adjacent to the school that is already supported by CAN. The group entered into a partnership agreement with the local community and within four weeks the hostel was built.  Two similar projects are planned in the next 12 months to support other communities.

 

  Definite Journey, Vietnam – AS770
Definite Journey are highlighting WTM WRTD for the first time this year.  The organisation will be showcasing it’s ‘responsible travel’ products on their stand during the World Travel Market.

 

  Dream Nepal Travels & Tours P Ltd, Nepal
Dream Nepal Travels & Tours have been spreading the word for World Responsible Tourism Day.  They have also developed policies for travellers on how to become responsible when travelling which they have shared with other organisations.

 

  El Nido Resorts, Philippines
El Nido Resorts have organised a coastal and underwater clean-up activity in honour of WTM World Responsible Tourism Day.  Staff and guests will be invited to participate in the clearing of beaches around Bacuit Bay, El Nido, Palawan, Philippines.  The day will be rounded off with the resort treating guests to an eco-cocktail event, where Environment Officers will talk about El Nido’s beauty and unique diversity.  El Nido Resort’s ‘Be G.R.E.E.N Video, a four part environmental practices training video will be shown during the evening.

 

  Footprint Vietnam Travel, Vietnam
Footprint Vietnam Travel provides a bridge between host and visitor, focusing on responsible travel, travelling in a way that respects culture, protects the environment and supports the communities visited. The organisation is supporting WTM WRTD for a second year and will be highlighting the day on their website, planning an event to support the day and training their staff on WTM WRTD.

  Grass Routes, India
Grass Routes are organizing a ‘Clean Up the Beach’ campaign in the seaside city of Puri with participants walking the length of the coastline picking up rubbish that have been washed ashore leaving behind a pristine beach and a clear message to tourists and locals alike – keep our beaches clean!

 

  Government of Gilgit Baltistan, Pakistan – AS399
Celebrating WTM WRTD for the first time, The Tourism Department will be highlighting their activities on their stand.  The Gilgit Baltistan Tourism Department regulates hunting by creating Community Controlled Hunting Areas whereby local communities benefit financially and endangered species can be protected.  Local communities engage in ‘clean up’ activities creating awareness and employment generation activities.

 

  Hotel de la Paix, Cambodia
Hotel de la Paix are celebrating WTM WRTD 2010 through their press releases going out to all their UK and European operators, retail agents and MICE contacts.  The Hotel will also be highlighting the day through their Facebook and Twitter accounts.

 

  Jungle Travels India – AS250
Jungle Travels India engage in ecotourism, wildlife watching, trekking and special interest tours.  They employ eco-friendly cruisehips as well as operating two eco-lodges near the national parks in Assam.  To highlight WTM WRTD they have recently started to review how ‘green’ their organisation is and have started shifting to solar energy and eliminating plastic bottles amongst other initiatives.

 

Luxury Travel Group Luxury Travel Group Co Ltd, Vietnam – AS770
Luxury Travel Group Co Ltd sponsor the Ha Cau Orphan Village in Ha Tay.  The organisation is committed to supporting the children's better education by improving their school facilities, providing computers and internet access, used clothing, pens, pencils and other items.  Travel professionals attending WTM who want to visit Vietnam and take a charity tour can joint the tour free of charge.

 

  Malaysian Discovery Tours & Travel, Malaysia 
Supporting WTM WRTD for the second time, Malaysian Discovery are continuing their support of responsible tourism by purchasing ‘green’ vehicles, promoting eco related tourism, organizing eco related activities with local and international schools. They advocate and educate tourists and employees on the importance of preserving their rain forest.

  Mandore Guest House, India
Supporting WTM WRTD for the first time this year, Mandore Guest House will be conducting special events during WTM WRTD with a focus on spreading awareness of environmental issues among children and villagers with particular emphasis on protecting the environment, reforestation and tree planting with the local community. They will also be promoting their nearby ecological village with a cycling theme, supporting the Historical Mandore Gardens with a more clean and green program and promoting the use of modified fuel efficient cooking stoves in their Rajasthan Village Project/Mandore Project.

  Ranjit’s SVAASA, India 
Supporting WTM WRTD for the first time, Ranjit’s SVAASA is a Heritage Boutique Spa Haveli promoting tourism in places of cultural importance whilst ensuring that the utilization of natural resources is not misused. 

  RIMO EXPEDITIONS, India
Rimo Expeditions is India's foremost organization of treks and expeditions to the Himalayas. Established in 1992 by Chewang Motupe and Yangdu Gombu (a husband-and-wife team), Rimo Expeditions has established itself as a well-known innovator and won an Award of Excellence for Best Practices in Adventure Travel in India in January 2010. Among these practices is the banning of tetra packs on all trips, bringing back all non biodegradable objects for proper disposal and the banning of kerosene on treks in Ladakh. 2007 saw the company organise a medical camp in the Chantang area of Tsomoriri for 10 days and provided all the medicines necessary, in 2009 they supported a medical camp in the Sham area of Ladakh. The company has built campsites and toilets in the Markha valley of Ladakh with the returns going to the villagers and another campsite in Sikkim. Rimo Expeditions sponsored and held a seminar for Himalayan Club in Leh Ladakh in 2009 on environment, medical issues in high altitude to bring about awareness amongst the local tour operators and students. The company continues to support International Porters Protection.

  Selena Travel, Mongolia
Supporting WTM WRTD for the first time this year, Selena Travel are planning to organise a day of “Responsible Tourism Promotion” for tourism students and researchers, together with tourism colleagues.  Selena Travel founded the Gan-Galuut nature reserve in 2003 and since then they have worked to develop responsible tourism in the reserve and make it a model of sustainable tourism in Mongolia.

  Synapses Adventures Pvt Ltd, India
Celebrating WTM WRTD for the first time this year, Synapses Adventures, who operate tours, treks and expeditions, will be highlighting the day on their website in their dedicated Responsible Tourism section.

 

 

Taylor’s University, Malaysia
Highlighting WTM WRTD for the first time, the University is organising a fundraising dinner to highlight WTM WRTD.  The whole university is involved in an initiative to raise funds to build a hostel for the indigenous community, the Kelabits, in the remote location of Bario on the borders of Kalimantan in Malaysia.  Bario has been adopted by the University whereby every Faculty within the University is engaged in a series of activities to alleviate poverty and improve the lifestyle of the community. Research is also carried out by students and faculty members to develop the homestays in this remote location which can further alleviate poverty. A series of activities by the students and staff will further increase their engagement with the indigenous community which will in turn make them a responsible person in line with the mission of Taylor’s University.

 

  Tourism Authority of Thailand, Thailand – AS500
The Tourism Authority of Thailand will be running their 4th Green Tourism Awards during WTM in conjunction with Responsibletravel.com and are launching their new campaign called Thailand: Go Green!
  Travel Indochina, Laos
Celebrating WTM WRTD once again, Travel Indochina will be running a series of training sessions and workshops in their offices across Australia, the UK, Vietnam and Cambodia, highlighting to all their staff the variety of initiatives and organisations that they support throughout Asia.  Travel Indochina will also highlight WTM WRTD through their monthly newsletter that goes out to all their clients and industry contacts.
